Everything is on its own evolutionary path. This website is no different.

It started as an idea when I first started to run out of space on Soundcloud back in about 2012. I don’t know why the thought was triggered because I quickly realised that a blog was never going to be a replacement or substitute. Instead it offered me the opportunity to write about music in all its many different guises which I had previously started a long time ago on a now defunct website.

But I went with it and the blog grew to include articles on music theory, software reviews, musings on music creation, various music projects, album reviews and recently book reviews too.

I’m very pleased with the progress over the past few years.   The blog outgrew the wordpress.com domain some time ago and I’ve finally made the move to a self-hosted site that gives me much greater control over the layout and content.  This allows me to include other interests such as photography and digital art and host sample packs that I’ve created for download.

It also allows me to add affiliate advertising which does help cover the costs of running the site.  I’ve tried to keep advertising to a minimum in sidebars and footers.  I’m an affiliate with Plugin Boutique, Loopmasters, Loopcloud, Yurt Rock and Cableguys.  If you’re considering a purchase from any of these, using the affiliate links really helps me.

Also if you’re looking for digital distribution, I’ve been using Distrokid for a while and have been very happy with their service.  Here’s a 7% discount code: https://distrokid.com/vip/seven/782803

I have to juggle this blog against personal and work commitments and also the need to create my own music which means unfortunately there are far more music submissions than I can feasibly listen to let alone review and far more content that I would like to publish than I have time to feasibly produce.

I am powered by coffee so if you like what I do you can support me by donating a coffee. I’d be very grateful.
