I’m a big fan of Cities and Memory and have contributed a number of individual tracks and also tracks for projects.

I really like the uniqueness of using field recordings, they capture a moment in time and are sounds that can’t be synthesised. They offer lots of potential for creativity.  You can treat them sympathetically and use them as an ‘instrument’ in your arrangement or you can use them as a sound source in samplers to create interesting and unusual sounds or go extreme with glitch effects and/or extensive manipulation to mangle them beyond recognition.

To find out more about Cities and Memory and how you can contribute, take a look at their website.

Stuart from Cities and Memory has very kindly provided a map that shows my submissions, you can explore them below.

A couple of early entries using sounds from Hamburg were made using my recording name of Andrulian and these are shown on the second map.
