Free Behringer Crave patch sheet - download link below!
I’ve had a Crave synth for a while. I purchased a used one as an introduction to semi-modular synths. Essentially it’s fairly simple, a monosynth with a single oscillator, filter, envelope, LFO for modulation and step sequencer.
However, it also has a patchbay which signifcantly extends the range of sounds that you can make with it. It’s a very versatile synth. As I learned to use different patching techniques, I wanted a way to record them, at least until I understand enough to be able to create patches on the fly. Quite a few people into modular synths don’t tend to record patches. They say it’s more of a sandbox approach to create a patch for the moment and then forget it.
I started with photos but the patching cables aren’t always obvious and I often forgot to add a description. Not very helpful. Then I thought about using a patch sheet. I’d seen some on the internet but having got into Affinity Designer around the same time, I created my own and made quite a lot of patches to share. Unfortunately I made a massive error and didn’t save the files, I thought they were autosaved.
So I felt a bit deflated and left it – until now. I got the Crave out again and used it on a recent submission for the Naviar Records weekly Haiku challenge:
I’ve also recently bought a Grind to accompany the Crave. I created a Grind patch sheet and thought it’s the ideal time to create one for the Crave again, and here it is:
Until I become more versed in patching and making sounds, a visual record is the most helpful way for me to record and learn, I thought it would be good to share in case it is useful for others too.
A little support goes a long way! If you’d like to help me keep creating, you can do so at https://ko-fi.com/andrulian
