Review of Singularity Zones Vol. 1 by The Oscillation

I’m a huge fan of The Oscillation, this is another superb release. It has a laid back psych feel, superb layering of drones, guitar and effects creating ambiences with subtle percussion with a huge sense of space and a cinematic feel at times.

I am

Builds with a drone, a great sense of space, ambience and subtle swirling movement. A synth lead gives momentum with subtle layered guitars. It has a contemplative, meditative feel.

Moonlight Walk

An edge to the opening drone softens as the song evolves, expanding into a more expansive sound with layered synth, effects and guitar.

Mind Unveiled

Bass to open, distorted trem guitar and layered synth build tension really well. The drumming gives a solid momentum and lead guitar has a kind of call and response feel. It has a cinematic feel with a slight edge.

Hologram Sun

Birdsong to open, it’s a slowly evolving ambience with layered drones, guitar and background sounds creating an evolving, swirling ambience contrasting with some edgier, distorted sounds.

Four

A dub type delay creates a rhythmic bass pattern accompanied by a similarly delayed guitar sound. Excellent layering of sound effects and guitar riffs. It’s contemplative with a slight edge.

Above the Waters

A slowly evolving ambience, it’s shimmery with great use of delay and subtle movement, has Pink Floyd vibes. Excellent layering of sounds and effects, a contemplative / meditative feel.
